Terrific Tuesdays: Pumpkin Topiaries
Hi everyone…It’s Tuesday again, and you know what that means. It is time for another installment of Terrific Tuesdays! Yea!
I guess my October posts are taking on a autumnal decorating theme, because this week I am sharing a tutorial for easy Pumpkin Topiaries. Let’s get started on our project.
First, gather your tools:
- 3 pumpkins or level gourds (find something unique – you want something that compliments your existing decor)
- A clay flower pot, french flower bucket, or other decorative container (I found these french flower buckets for $2 each – make sure the opening is just a bit smaller than your pumpkins)
- pea gravel, rocks, or decorative stones (you need something to weigh down your base so the topiary won’t come crashing down)
- Preserved or silk fall leaves
- Hot Glue Gun
- Knife or snips
Step 2: Make your base stable with your gravel. Your gravel doesn’t have to be decorative; it won’t show.
Step 3: Collar your base with preserved leaves. Just stick a few stems in the base. They will stick out under the bottom pumpkin for extra fall color.
Step 4: Look at the shapes of your pumpkins. Put them in size order; use the largest for the base of your stack of pumpkins. Then look at the stems of the pumpkins (if they have any). Are any of the stems more decorative than the others? If so, use that one for the cherry on top (or in our case, the top pumpkin on the topiary!).
Step 5: Cut any excess stems of of the pumpkins used for the first two levels of your topiary.
Step 6: Put some hot glue on the bottom of your pumpkin.
Step 7: Stick the pumpkin on the base. Once you get it into place, you may need to fill in with some hot glue to make it extra stable.
Step 8: Adhere extra leaves to the top of the first level. These will stick out between the different levels of the topiary.
Steps 9, 10, 11: Add the next pumpkin by adhering with hot glue. Add another layer of leaves. Top off the topiary with the remaining pumpkin.
Step 12: Finish your topiary by making sure everything is extra stable…Add extra hot glue in loose spots.
Volia! Fun topiaries for your mantle, front porch or wherever you need a little autumn cheer!
Toodles!

now that is a terrific fall project….it doesnt limit you to just October and Halloween, it takes you right through Thanksgiving. not only does it look great, it looks sooo easy to do.
Thanks! It is very very easy to do…Just a little hot gluin’ and you’re done!
These are gorgeous! I’ll be linking to these.
Thanks so very much Rachel!
Beautiful topiaries! I love them! I made something similar with faux pumpkins a couple of weeks ago but I like yours even better. Those little pumpkins are so pretty. Thanks for sharing!
