Do you Twitter?
I have an opinion poll for you…Do you Twitter or do you think it is a total waste of time (or do you even know what twitter is)?
If you don’t know what Twitter is, it is kind of like a mini-blogging tool that you can post what you are doing, what you are looking at on the internet, just info about you in general. Twitter says, “Twitter is a privately funded startup with offices in the SoMA neighborhood of San Francisco, CA. Started as a side project in March of 2006, Twitter has grown into a real-time short messaging service that works over multiple networks and devices. In countries all around the world, people follow the sources most relevant to them and access information via Twitter as it happens—from breaking world news to updates from friends.”

I started Twittering because a friend of mine (Hi Debbie!) asked me if I knew anything about it. I signed up mostly out of curiosity. Now, I am addicted! It is neat to be able to see (or “follow” which is Twitter terminology) what hundreds (or even thousands) of people are doing at the same time. I follow a lot of people who are Etsians, so it is fun to see when others post new listings in their Etsy shops.
Other Etsians also post Twitter-only promotions, like TimothyAdam, who posts his Etsy Top 10 every Monday. He posts an update on Twitter, and then everyone that follows him can then go to an Etsy promo thread and post their shop, so they can have a chance to be picked in the top 10 list for that particular Monday. He gives everyone an hour or so to post their shop. Then he posts his top 10 on Twitter, one by one…Sometimes I feel like I can actually hear a little drum roll as he posts his 10!
To be honest, I have gotten a lot more traffic on my blog because of Twitter. My subscriber numbers have doubled in the last few weeks. Thanks Twitters!

I resisted joining Twitter for the longest time, thinking it would just be a waste and a drain on what little time I have, but it’s actually a fantastic networking tool and as long as you’re not following thousands of people and needing to read every Tweet/Twit, it’s not really a waste, imho. And it’s really fun to get to know favorite bloggers (and commenters) in a different way. Love it!

That is really how I feel about Twitter too Lauren…It can be a total time waster, but doesn’t have to be…You just have to be as involved as you want to be. I like it too!

Cute blog. I am just a simple guy and am still getting accustomed to blogging and the world seems to be moving on to the next great thing. It’s like trying to keep up with my kids… Maybe that’s why I like baby photography – babies stay still, mostly.
