A few of my favorite tips
Hi all! Now that the new year has started, does that just make you want to organize and get ready for spring? It does me.
Now that all of the Christmas decorations are put away, I feel like I need to clean and organize. It makes me pull my book of tips that I have collected over the years from various magazines such as Martha, etc. So I thought, if they help me, why not share them so maybe they can help you too!
Tip #1: What to do with all of those votive holders that have half burned candles from Christmas? Pop them in the freezer for a few hours and the wax will pop right out. This keeps you from scratching the glass trying to pry it out with a knife. (credit: Martha Stewart Living)
Tip #2: To dry a decorative jar or decanter that has a very small mouth (that you can’t get into to dry it by hand), roll up a paper towel and carefully slip it 3 quarters of the way into the jar. The paper towel will wick the moisture right out of the jar. (Martha Stewart Living)
Tip #3: To store your trowels and other gardening tools over the winter, fill a small bucket with sand then add some motor oil (around 1 quarter to one half cup for a small bucket). Stir until the sand is moist. Wipe off any dirt from your tool and then slip them in the sand. This will keep them from rusting. (Gardening by the Yard)
Tip #4: To remove indentations caused by furniture in your carpet, place an ice cube in the dip. As it melts, then dip will disappear. (Martha Stewart Living)
Tip #5: To remove tarnish from a copper pot, cut a lemon in half, dip in kosher salt and rub on tarnished copper. The tarnish will be removed with a little elbow grease! (Martha Stewart Living)
As you can see, I used to get a lot of tips from Martha. Hum…I might need to re-subscribe to her magazine…
Do you have any favorite tips you would like to share? I would love to hear them!
Toodles Lemonheads!
