Terrific Tuesdays: Cupcake Bouquet

Hola lemonheads! I am really excited about today’s post because it is a project that turned out so cute. It is a cupcake bouquet, and here is how to make it.

- 8-10 cupcakes
- icings for decorating
- bamboo skewers
- floral foam for dry arrangements
- transparent floral tape or a glue gun
- 6″ clay pot (preferably not used)
- ribbon
- floral pins
Ok, let’s get started with the fun…
First let me say I am not a cake/cupcake decorating genius…Actually, I am not good at all! I say all that to say that you can do this!
I piped some yummy chocolate icing for my base and then I took some of the squirt icing, and made some bobo (this means bad in “Kelly speak”) looking flowers on top with red and yellow icing.
Once I was done decorating, I started my bouquet assembly.

Take your clay pot and cut some of the floral foam to fit snuggly into the pot. Glue or tape the foam into the pot for extra security.

Using a cupcake for “measurement”, figure out where you want your first cupcake to land. Put it in the middle of the pot/foam. Then secure it by taking some skewers (you might have to break part of them off to get them short enough), and shoving them in the foam, pointed side up.

Then stab your cupcake onto this skewer (sounds grusome right?). Place the rest of the skewers and cupcakes in this manner until you have a nice evenly spaced bouquet of cupcakes.

Then take 5″-7″ snips of ribbon and tie them onto the floral pins. I doubled up and tied two ribbons to each pin for extra fullness. You will probably need around 20 ribboned pins. Stick these in the foam to cover up any of the green foam that you can see throug the cupcakes. This is called covering your mechanics in floral design. So cover ‘em up ladies and gents!

Once you have finished with the cover up, you have a beautiful bouquet that will make a wonderful housewarming gift, birthday present or just a “Your special” gift.
What do you think? Cute right?
Toodles and happy Tuesday!

I LOVE this idea! It turned out so cute. I was picturing the cupcakes being decorated as little birdie nests too with a little sugar bird and eggs in there too. ADORABLE!
SO cute and so perfect for this afternoon’s Roundup, you have no idea!
Thanks Karli and Rachel!
Karli: That sounds so cute with the birdie nests!
Rachel: Can’t wait to see the roundup to discover what this cryptic comment is all about.
This is so adorable!
Love this idea. I may have to give it a try for someone’s birthday. How cute would it be to deliver it?
Great job!!!
This is really cute. I love cupcakes and I think this would be a great Mother’s Day gift…for me!
Thanks Melanie!
Cythina…That is a great idea! Wouldn’t that be a fun thing to have from a treasured friend on your doorstep.
Karen…Thanks and you should print out the directions and conveniently leave them laying around your house! Maybe even with a note saying “Perfect Gift” written on them. HINT! HINT!
This is so deliciously beautiful. Very creative!
Question to you: what kind of icing do you get for your cupcakes, or do you make it yourself? My cupcakes are tasty, but my icing sucks
I want to bake perfect cupcakes for my 4 y.o. daughter.
These are so great! I’ll have to make these for new neighbors or as a table centerpiece for a party. These would be great for guests to enjoy or take home as a gift.
