Lemony Fresh Etsy Seller: Savoie Faire Photography
Hola Purple Lemonheads! Hope you are having a great week. Today I am sharing a super innovative photographer, Christine of Savoie Faire Photography. She tells in her Etsy profile of how she came up with her shop name, “Savoie is my family name. It’s Cajun French and sounds like the French term, Savoir-Faire (sav′wär fair), which means “to know (how) to do” (something). ” Christine creates custom works of names and words made of images that look like the letters that make up the word…OK that doesn’t make sense at all, so as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!
Kelly: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started in creating your photography collages?
Christine: I’ve been into arts and crafts as long as I can remember. In the eighties I made hand painted wood crafts with my mom and we did the craft show circuit for several years. I’ve always been interested in photography, but it wasn’t until I got my first DSLR camera that I really was bitten by the photography bug. I made photo jewelery for a few years and loved the graphic part of it, but the jewelery making part really wasn’t what I wanted to do. I was looking for something that would combine my love for photography and computer graphics and discovered that alphabet art photography was the perfect match!
Kelly: What are your favorite things about creating your pieces?
Christine: I enjoy hunting for letters to photograph and the whole process of creating the name collages in Photoshop. The best part about creating a name frame is some of the feedback I get from customers. It’s so rewarding to hear how some of the recipients of my artwork are brought to tears when they see the piece or when I hear that it’s a newly married couple’s favorite wedding gift.
Kelly: What made you want to turn your art into a business?
Christine: I already had an Etsy shop with my photo jewelery and after many requests for name frame orders, I decided to open a photography shop …it was a natural progression.
What do you think, lemonheads? Cool, right? I love Christine’s creations and I am sure that you do to. So, jump over to her Etsy store and purchase a couple of pics for yourself.
