My Etsy Journey: Crafting My Shop Part 1

Hi all you wonderful lemonheads. Today I am going to share how I have crafted my shop on Etsy.

Rearrange Your Shop

First, I am going to talk about the new feature, Rearrange Your Shop. I love this new feature!

I am no expert since I was not lucky enough to be a Beta user of this feature, but I have been playing with it over the past few days. It is very useful to me because I have a few different markets that design for. I design wedding stamps for brides, address stamps for everyone, as well as stationery for everyone. I also have a special group of address stamps targeted to moms for their children. I am grateful that now I can put all of these different types of stamps together for a more unified shop. It is kind of the concept of merchandising in a retail shop. You can group similar items together for a striking and effective vignette. This features does the same thing.

Have you had a chance to use this feature yet? How are you using it?

Shop Announcement

Next, I would like to address the shop announcement. I update my shop announcement at least once a week, sometimes 3 or 4 times a week. I always date it, so that my customers know that I check the shop and want to connect with them. I just tell them about something new that I am working on or have listed.

I also keep my shop announcement short. I received a critique about my shop through the Etsy forums and the critiquer (is that a word?), commented that my shop announcement was too long and my customer couldn’t view my items. She was so right! I make sure now that I Keep It Simple Sweetie!

Shop Policies

I use my shop policies to clarify everything that I think might be overlooked in my shop. I make sure that I clarify that I am not responsible for any customs or duties when I ship overseas. I also clarify my payment methods. This is also a great place to address expedited shipping options if you offer this in your shop.

I probably have more to talk about on this topic so, there will be a part two.

I would love to know how you guys craft your shop…Have you used the rearrange your shop tool? Do you like it? How do you use it? How do you use your shop announcement? What do you list in your shop policies?

Please, please, please let’s talk in the comments…I would love to know what you guys think!
