Lemony Fresh Etsy Seller: Prizy Sebastian
Today I have the distinct pleasure of sharing with you Prizy Sebastian of Prizy Sebastian Designs. This is one fabulous designer, folks. You are going to be drawn into her romantic, detailed style just as I am. She was kind enough to share a bit of her time with us, so I could bring you a little interview today. So without further ado, here is Prizy!
Kelly: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started designing and creating apparel?
Prizy: I was born in India and grew up in Houston, Tx. Always drawing since a child, the earliest I remember designing was making a long satin pleated burgundy gown for my doll. My father gave me a subscription for fashion magazines in middle school and I was hooked by the fantasy, beauty and color of the clothes. It was a form of escapism, which I did not seriously consider as a job prospect. I started as an accounting major in college, but designing was always in my mind, and eventually it became impossible to ignore.
Kelly: Can you tell us a your style and why you are drawn to it?
Prizy: My style is elegant. I am inspired by Valentino, and other designers who have a very distinct style and know how to make women look more beautiful. I love clothes with details such as pin-tucks, gathers or darts used in new ways, and special touches that make a piece delicate and timeless. My Indian heritage definitely influences my color choices. Ultimately all women want to look and feel more beautiful, and I hope to add a little of that into my work.
Kelly: What made you want to turn your art into a business?
Prizy: Most people spend their entire lifetime working, and I had always believed giving up such considerable amount of my time had to be for something I loved. I was already working in the New York fashion industry as a designer, but when an opportunity came up to sell some pieces at a designers market, I thought I would try. Initially it was just for fun and a chance to be creative, but it just kept going from there.
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us Prizy. I love learning about my favorite artists, don’t you? Won’t you pay a visit to Prizy Sebastian Designs on Etsy? She has even more amazing pieces in her shop. Visit her at:http://www.etsy.com/shop/prizysebastian. You will love her stuff!
