Today, I thought I would share some custom stamp designs I had the honor of working on for some lovely Etsy shop owners. The first is for Papery Goodness Press. Kristi makes the cutest personalized note pads in her shop. She really liked my cupcake stamp design and wanted it included in a custom business stamp she could use to personalize her Etsy packaging. Here is what I designed for her…

I also had the privilege to design a web address stamp for Shari of beachgrasscottage. She makes the most lovely home decor pieces out of beach glass.

We modified the design of my “handmade stamp” to fit her needs and this is what came out of the collaboration:

One of my favorite things is creating custom pieces to fit my client’s needs. My sorority sister, Melissa, messaged me over Facebook a couple of weeks ago with this interesting project…She lives way down south and celebrates Mardi Gras. She wanted some enclosure cards to use for the occasion. She asked if I did anything like that, and I enthusiastically said YES! So in honor of Mardi Gras, take a look at this project:

Hi lemonheads! Today I am sharing a little business card that I designed for a local hair salon. The owner, Kelli, wanted to have something that is client-friendly in that it had a removable appointment reminder that could easily be stuck in a date book.




I think it turned out great and the client really liked them. What do you think?

Hi guys and gals and Lemonheads, I hope you are having a super week. I hope you are not too upset that today’s usual Terrific Tuesdays post is absent, but I have been wanting to give some attention to some ideas that have been floating around in my head lately. I promise installments of Terrific Tuesdays will come back (they just may be a little more sporadic).

The first topic I have gotten questions about during my time as a stationery designer is what to think about when ordering custom stationery. This can be personal note cards, business cards or even your yearly Christmas cards. So today, I thought I would give you a few tips to think about if you are thinking about ordering custom stationery.

How should I budget for my stationery?

Luckily, you can get customized stationery in all price ranges. If you can only spend a little, you can purchase a customized pdf that you can print on card stock on your home computer. I currently offer a few of these files in my Etsy shop. The price runs around $10. If you want professionally printed cards, then you will probably need to budget from $100 – $300 for 100 professionally printed cards. Letterpressed cards will probably be on the upper end of the price range.

What will I use this stationery for?

This is a big question that you should ask yourself. If the stationery is going to be for personal use only, then you can choose as style that is as wild and crazy as you want. If you are going to use this personally as well as professionally, you may want to choose a more classic, refined design. This not only applies to note cards and everyday stationery, but holiday cards too. It might not be the best idea to put a picture of yourself having a wild girls’ night out on your card and then sending it to your boss ;-).

What is my personal style?

It is important to make sure your designer knows a little about your personality. Make sure to convey to your designer your favorite colors, designs you like, if you like frilly things or more structured things, etc. The more information like this that you can give your designer the better. I love having a question and answer session with a new customer so I can find out how all of her life details are going to present themselves in her stationery. I love it when I hit the nail on the head and my customer says, “This is exactly what I was looking for!”, when they open their stationery for the first time. I guess a stationery designer is a lot like a shrink! Well maybe not…

Anywhoo, I hope this helps you a little bit when deciding what you want to say through your stationery. Please post any questions you might have in the comments below…Toodles!

By the way most of the photos in the piece are envelopes and letters during WWII from my grandfather to my grandmother…Kind of weird (and sweet!) to think your grandmother was your grandfather’s dearest darling…Hope you enjoyed them!

So, lemonheads, have I told you that I was in a sorority when I was in college? I am sure there are mixed reviews of sororities and fraternities out there in interweb land, but for me a sorority was a good thing. I was a Phi Mu, just like my aunt. I really met some good friends, and I have kept the connection to some of my sisters over the years.

A lady I was a Phi Mu with at MSU just tapped me to design some note cards for her Phi Mu alumnae chapter…Boy, was I flattered!

This one is my favorite...

They are very pink, but that is the sorority’s colors. So, I think it works.

Hi guys! I have met so many new fabulous people through my partnership with The Nester, and one of those wonderful people is Jes. She runs the Parker Reese Foundation where she raises awareness and funding for congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). She also blogs over at Simply A Farmer’s Wife. Jes is the one of the sweetest and most courageous women I know. I am so lucky to be working on a few projects for her and her foundation. One of them was to design some note cards for her…This is what I came up with…

I loved working on this project. She loves fun designs and color, so we get along really well, design wise. I think we came up with a very cool design.

My friend Rachel, the artist behind Lucky Snow,  just commissioned me to create some flat post cards for her to use personally and professionally. She is a very fun girl. You can tell from her paintings that she loves color, so she is a great client to work with. Here are some shots of the design that I created for her.
