My design process begins with my client. I will meet with you, via phone or in person, to gather information about your project. Once this initial meeting is complete, a quote for the project will be returned to you.
If you choose to use Purple Lemon Designs, I may need you to help me craft any content needed for your project. For instance, we may need your input when writing a paragraph for a brochure we are creating for you, or we may need your help choosing images for your custom memory album. Your cooperation during this phase is crucial – it will result in a much stronger finished piece.
For graphic design, which ranges from building a business identity (logos, stationery, business cards, etc.), to creating illustrations, advertising materials, stationery, and other creative elements, I perform some research, brainstorm and then sketch to define some ideas regarding your project. I then begin putting ideas into the computer. As the saying goes, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is good design. Graphic design is a process, so patience is necessary.
Website design is a different animal from graphic design. It is a longer process, depending on the scope of the project. There are three phases in my web design process; graphic design, development, and testing. These are all necessary to a good website, in both form and function.
Initial mock ups of home page designs for your site are created, and given to you for review. I cannot stress enough that all design revisions are to be made during this point. It is much harder and costlier to you, the customer, to change a website during the development phase. After a home page design is chosen, interior pages of your site are then created.
Next in the process is the Development Phase. During this stage, markup (which is the language that tells a web browser what your website says and looks like) for your site is developed. I constantly am trying to educate myself about develpment. Since I began building web pages in 1999, creating websites has totally changed. I strive to learn the new techniques available to designers. The web pages developed are always validated by the current internet standards.
Once the development phase is completed, the testing phase begins. I test the site so that it works across all browsers that your customers may use. I want to make sure that not only you, but your customers are happy with your site.
